S. Carolina Moves Primary Ahead Of Florida
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Last Friday, the state of Florida threw the entire presidential primary schedule into chaos when it moved the state's primary to January 31.
Now, the schedule is getting even more scrambled as South Carolina will move its primary to January 21, according to CNN.
The move of South Carolina will now put more pressure on Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada to move their primaries up even earlier in January.
"South Carolina is making things right," South Carolina GOP Chairman Chad Connelly told CNN. "South Carolina Republicans have a thirty-year track record of picking the eventual Republican Presidential nominee. We will continue that historic tradition on January 21, 2012.
With South Carolina's move, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada will move their primaries even earlier in the month, with just 20 days to choose from.
Iowa will be the first state to cast ballots in 2012 through their caucus system. After that, New Hampshire will hold the nation's first primary.
Nevada will then hold its 2012 caucus; followed by Florida's open primary on January 31.
