Rubio To Keynote S.C. GOP Dinner
COLUMBIA, S.C. (CBSMiami) – Perhaps signaling that he is seriously considering a vice-presidential candidacy, Florida Senator Marco Rubio will address an annual Republican fundraising dinner in South Carolina in May.
Senator Rubio will give the keynote address at the May 19 Silver Elephant dinner in Columbia, South Carolina. For Rubio, it will give him a prime stage in a key state for the Republican Party in the 2012 general election.
South Carolina GOP Chairman Chad Connelly said the event will honor the party's heritage and inclusiveness. Connelly said Rubio's willingness to stand up to President Barack Obama made him the ideal choice for the keynote address.
Last year's Silver Elephant dinner featured GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum.
