Rubio Senate Campaign Admits Violations, Pays Fine
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) - Florida US Senator Marco Rubio has had his hand slapped by the Federal Election Commission for accepting what the FEC said almost a quarter million dollars in improper contributions during the campaign that put him in the Senate.
The fine? Just $8 thousand.
The campaign reached a settlement with the FEC, admitted accepting the contributions, and agreeing to the fine.
The FEC doesn't get specific about the exact problem with each questioned contribution, but said in it's filing the fine covers "prohibited, excessive and other impermissible contributions."
The settlement was reached about a month ago, but was first revealed Friday on the website Politico.com
