Ronnie Brown Signs With Eagles

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Dolphins move away from Ronnie Brown was completed Tuesday afternoon when he agreed to a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brown's exit from Miami's plans was a certainty after the team traded up in the draft to select Daniel Thomas, and the Fins traded for New Orleans Saints bust Reggie Bush. Brown was loved in Miami for his proficiency running the Wildcat.

Brown spent the first six seasons of his career with the Dolphins and ran for 4,815 yards, with 36 touchdowns on the ground, and caught 184 passes for 1,491 yards and 2 tochdowns. He also threw two touchdown passes with the Fins.

But Brown will be leaving a poorly run franchise for one of the best in the NFL. Brown was reportedly considering the Eagles, Chargers, Ravens, and Rams. The Eagles offered the least money, but they have the best chances of winning now.

The Eagles have constructed one of the best defenses in football, led by a strong pass rush and the best cornerback trio in football: Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The Eagles have added Asomugha, former Titans quarterback Vince Young, and former Packers defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins.

The Eagles offense already has Michael Vick at quarterback and LeSean McCoy at running back, which will allow Brown to extend his career by not being an every-down back.
