Romney Releases VP App
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Senator Marco Rubio. Senator Rob Portman. Senator Kelly Ayotte. All of them have political pundits guessing who will be Republican nominee Mitt Romney's running mate. Now, there's an app for that.
The Romney campaign launched an app called "Mitt's VP" Tuesday that promises to announce the vice-presidential selection before it's revealed to anyone else.
"The first official way to learn the name of the Republican Vice Presidential candidate is by using our new 'Mitt's VP' app," said Romney's digital director, Zac Moffatt, in a statement. "Users of the app will be the first to get the news on the biggest political decision of the year through an instantaneous alert on the one device most people carry around the clock—their phone."
The campaign has been tight-lipped, as all campaigns are, about who will be the selection. Rubio, Portman, Ayotte, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice and others have been floated as potential picks.
The app is available for both Android and iPhones.
