Roads To Close This Weekend For 170-Mile Charity Bike Ride

SOUTH FLORIDA (CBSMiami) – This weekend, roads along a 170-mile route will be partially closed thoughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. No one likes road closures, but this will be for a very good cause.

The third annual Dolphins Cycling Challenge, a charity bike ride, takes place this weekend. CBS4's Kim Bokamper will be participating.

The charity event is sponsored by the Miami Dolphins and the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The ride is in memory of former Dolphin player Jim "Mad Dog" Mandich. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, times of all closings are not exact.

Broward Closings On Saturday:

In Dania Beach, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, one lane of northbound U.S. 1 in the area of Northeast Second Avenue will be closed.

One lane of westbound Old Griffin Road from U.S. 1 to Griffin Road, and one lane of westbound Griffin Road from Old Griffin Road to Anglers Avenue will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Closings On Sunday:

In Fort Lauderdale, one northbound lane on Andrews Avenue from Las Olas Boulevard to Broward Boulevard, and one eastbound lane on Broward Boulevard from Andrews Avenue to U.S. 1 will be closed from 8 to 10 a.m.

One eastbound lane on Sunrise Boulevard from Northeast 20th Avenue to State Road A1A will be closed from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

One westbound lane on Las Olas Boulevard from Seabreeze Boulevard to Financial Plaza will be closed from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Southbound U.S. 1 from Broward Boulevard to Southeast Seventh Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

On Interstate 595, various ramps will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and lanes along Davie Road and Pine Island Road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Both days, from CityPlace in West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale Beach, a lane along A1A will be closed all morning through early afternoon.
