Reward Increased In Violent Coconut Grove Home Invasion
COCONUT GROVE (CBS4) – Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers has increased the reward for information regarding a violent home invasion robbery in Coconut Grove.
The reward is now $5,000 in the case of Bill MacIntyre, an 80-year-old man who was tied up with duct tape, punched repeatedly in the face and head, robbed and left home alone by four masked men who broke into his upscale Coconut Grove home the night of June 7th, 2011.
MacIntyre was hospitalized the next morning after he remained tied up all night long but somehow managed to make his way downstairs, outside and into the middle of Bayshore Drive to seek help.
An early morning jogger and his wife saw MacIntyre bound in the middle of the street and immediately helped him
MacIntyre's son said the criminals seemed to know too much.
"I think my Dad was targeted because they knew what they were doing and they went straight for what they were looking for," said Bill MacIntyre. He said the men knew exactly where the safe was.
"They believe it was an inside job because his son told me that his Dad thought he recognized the voice of one of the men," said neighbor and friend Nancy Bolt. "Either somebody knew something or they worked here before."
