MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- With the NBA draft over, the summer of Durant has officially begun.
The summer offseason also means the rumor mill is in full swing.
Reports have been flying in as to where Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant could land when the free agency period begins on July 1st at 12:01 a.m. EST.
The Miami Heat are reported to be one of six teams with a shot of landing the 6'9" forward, including his current Thunder team.
However, according to The Oklahoman, NBA agents said Durant may have already narrowed his list down to two teams -- the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors.
One anonymous agent called both teams "the only real players" because they represent the best chance for Durant to win a championship.
However, as rumors and questions run rampant during the summer, so do the agents' mouths. After all, putting rumors out there is all part of their game -- bidding wars and perceived desperation mean dollar signs.
The Thunder got awfully close to representing the Western Conference in the NBA Finals this year, losing to Golden State 96-88 in a seven game series that could have really gone either way. With OKC's Russell Westbrook in his prime, and one of the elite guards in the NBA, one would have to assume it would take only the most perfect scenario for Durant to leave his current situation.
Meanwhile, the Heat are also contending with the Lakers and Mavericks, both of which are pursuing center Hassan Whiteside.
