Report: Tebow To Jags Report A Bust
JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami) – Jacksonville Jaguars fans had a brief moment of hysteria Tuesday night when a local television station, WTEV, reported the team was making a move to trade for New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you view Tebow, the Jags will not be acquiring the former Florida Gators quarterback, according to profootballtalk.com.
According to the profootballtalk.com report, a source told the website Tebow was in Jacksonville during the Jets' bye week this week, which could have sparked the rumor mill to fire up.
Tebow, a Jacksonville native, has been available to the Jaguars at numerous points over the past few years. However, the Jaguars have passed on adding the former Gators star every time. The Jags could have drafted Tebow or traded for him in the offseason last year, but passed both times.
The Jaguars currently have a quarterback stable of starter Blaine Gabbert and backup Chad Henne. Gabbert is playing through an injury, but has improved significantly on his numbers from last season.
Gabbert is completing 56 percent of his passes in 2012 and has thrown for 1,209 yards, seven touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He's been sacked 17 times through seven games this season.
