Report: TE Dustin Keller Visiting Miami
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Less than 24 hours after the start of free agency, the Miami Dolphins continue to pursue some of the biggest names available in an unprecedented shopping spree for the franchise.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are set to host free-agent tight end Dustin Keller, formerly of the New York Jets. Keller, when healthy, has been a solid receiving threat for the jets since entering the league in 2008.
Keller only started five games and played in a total of eight games in 2012 due to injuries. Still, for his career he has 241 catches for 2,876 yards and 17 touchdowns. Keller would become an excellent compliment for the Dolphins new passing corps featuring Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline.
In addition, it would inflict another loss on the division-rival Jets, which would be music to the ears of Dolphins fans.
Miami is in need of a tight end after Anthony Fasano signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jared Cook chose to sign with the St. Louis Rams.
Past Keller, the biggest names left on the free agent market include Oakland's Brandon Myers and Washington's Fred Davis, neither of which generated much buzz on the first day of free agency.
The Fins could also wait until the NFL Draft where there are multiple solid tight end candidates available through the first couple rounds of the draft.
