Tallahassee Police Find Body Of Missing FSU Student
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) - Tallahassee Police confirmed Tuesday that a body found in an empty building is that of missing former Florida State University student Ryan Uhre.
"It is with a heavy heart that the TPD announces that the body that we have discovered behind us belongs to Ryan Uhre," said police spokesman Dave Northway. "This case is still open and active. It is pending the results of autopsy results. We have no suspicion of foul play at this point."
Investigators would not say how Uhre, 23, died or how he ended up in what appeared to be a vacant building on College Avenue. Northway said surveillance video shows Uhre in the area the night he disappeared. When officers went canvassed the areas for clues they noticed something out of order.
"When they got up on the side of the building they noticed that there was a window that was previously boarded up or had a board at one time," said Northway. "When they looked inside they found Mr. Uhre inside the building."
Uhre, who is from Weston, has been missing since Super Bowl Sunday. He left a Tallahassee sports bar that night and was never seen again.
Uhre's father Michael told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "It's heartbreaking when your son is missing. There is some relief that he is not still wandering out there and that he was not abducted. But this not anything that anyone should experience as a Dad or as a parent."

"It's tough," he said outside his Weston home Tuesday afternoon. "Your kids are three or six and they leave for school and you worry about them. Ryan was 23 and we were worried about him. That's just the way we felt about him. We asked God and prayed that he would be found safe."
"We don't have a lot of specific information about what happened," he said. "The investigation is still ongoing. We do know that he had cash in his pocket and his wallet with him."
"As a Dad you don't give up hope that your son will be found," he said. "It's hard to put my finger on it. As a parent you just never give up hope."
Uhre graduated from Florida State last December and was applying to law school. He was involved with an internship with Rep. Richard Stark (D-Weston) and was excited about his future, according to his family.
"Today, I am deeply saddened and truly shocked by the news that law enforcement in Tallahassee have announced that they have found the body of my legislative intern Ryan Uhre, who had missing since February 2," said Stark in a statement. "Ryan's family, friends and coworkers are in our thoughts and prayers in this time of grief."
Police in Tallahassee, at Florida State University and in South Florida were all involved in the search for Uhre.
