Report: Panthers To Host 2015 NHL Draft

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Panthers made major improvements to the BB&T Center's scoreboard in the offseason and as a payback to the county and the team, the NHL will reportedly bring the 2015 NHL Entry Draft to Sunrise, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.

The Herald further reported that the Panthers have been promised a future NHL All-Star Game as well, but the earliest it could come is 2016 as the next All-Star Game, in 2015, has already been awarded to Columbus.

Florida hasn't hosted the NHL Draft since 2001 when the team selected Stephen Weiss with the number four overall pick. The number one pick that year went to the then-Atlanta Thrashers.

According to ProHockeyTalk.com, scoring ace Conor McDavid is projected to be the top available prospect in 2015. At just 16, he was selected to represent Canada at the World Juniors Championship.
