Report: More Urban Meyer Players In Trouble
COLUMBUS, Ohio (CBSMiami) – Ohio State University head coach Urban Meyer was already under scrutiny for the countless number of players arrested while he was at the University of Florida. Now, Meyer has another player problem to deal with in Ohio.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, All-American cornerback Bradley Roby was arrested early Sunday morning on preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury after a disturbance at a bar. The Dispatch reported Roby was asked to leave a bar, refused, and was taken down by bouncers until police arrived.
Roby's not the only Buckeyes player, or in this case ex-player, facing legal issues.
In the same report from the Dispatch, Ohio State announced Monday it had suspended its top running back, Carlos Hyde. According to the report, Hyde was named as a person of interest in a weekend assault against a woman in a Columbus bar.
Hyde was the team's top running back, rushing for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. No other running back on the roster had more than 215 yards rushing for the Buckeyes last season.
Last season, Meyer threw Storm Klein off the team after he was accused of fighting with a former girlfriend. Klein returned to the team once he was cleared of the charges.
Still, for Meyer the problems with two top players couldn't come at a worse time.
Meyer's record has been tarnished, off the field, by the 30 players arrested at the University of Florida while he was head coach.
