Report: Mizzou To SEC Imminent
COLUMBIA, Mo. (CBSMiami.com) – The University of Missouri is expected to announce in a matter of days that the school will withdraw from the Big XII Conference and apply for membership in the Southeastern Conference, according to Rivals.com.
Rivals' Missouri website, Power Mizzou.com, said a source has confirmed to Mizzou that the Tigers' move to the SEC was "as done as done can be without the official vote."
The Board of Curators at Mizzou are meeting over the next two days and a decision to leave the Big XII could be announced by Friday.
If Missouri does come to the SEC, it would become the 14th member of the conference. It would also force the conference to alter the divisions to add both Mizzou and Texas A&M.
For its part, the Big XII would likely turn to West Virginia as a replacement for Missouri. The conference could also target BYU and Louisville to help get the conference back to 12 members.
