Report: Miami-Dade Pit Bull Ban Likely To Stay
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBSMiami) – It looks like Miami-Dade County's ban on pit bulls will continue to be the law after an attempt to repeal it in the Florida legislature fell one vote shy, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The bill, HB 997, is stuck in a budgetary subcommittee and while it's not completely dead yet, with the legislature looking to end their session on March 9, it needs major help to survive.
New Miami Marlins pitcher Mark Buehrle had been supporting the bill and had even taped two public-service announcements for the bill, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Since Miami-Dade has the ban on pit bulls, Buehrle said his family would not be living in Miami, despite playing for the Marlins.
