Report: Martin Meeting With Wells For 2nd Time
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The NFL's lead investigator in the Jonathan Martin case will be meeting with the Dolphins offensive lineman Thursday for a second round of interviewing, according to ESPN.com.
Martin previously met with investigator Ted Wells on November 15. During the initial meeting, Martin laid out his case for saying he was bullied and harassed by teammate Richie Incognito and other players. Wells has previously interviewed every Dolphins player and coach along with several team executives as part of his investigation into Martin's case.
According to the ESPN.com report, Wells is going to present his findings from the team interviews to Martin on Thursday. After that, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Wells will return to Miami for a second round of interviews with Dolphins players next week.
Schefter's report stated the second round of interviews with the team is to "clarify some things."
Wells is wrapping up his investigation into the Martin case after he was selected by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to conduct an independent investigation of the matter. Commissioner Goodell said that Wells' report on the matter will be made public upon completion.
The Dolphins suspended Incognito for his alleged role in the case and reached a deal with him last weekend to keep him on the roster and getting paid, but not playing for the team. Martin was put on the non-football injury list on November 30.
Martin hasn't been with the team since leaving after a lunchroom prank by his teammates.
According to ESPN, Wells' report is likely to be completed and submitted to the commissioner's office in a week to 10 days.
