Report: Marlins Sign First Round Draft Pick
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins may have finally solved their revolving door at third base.
The team has agreed to terms with first-round draft pick Colin Moran pending a physical, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.
Moran was the sixth overall pick in the draft and Miami offered the slotted contract for the sixth pick, roughly $3.52 million. Moran helped power the North Carolina Tar Heels to the College World Series this year while hitting .348 with 86 RBI's.
According to the Herald, Moran is expected to start out his professional career with the Marlins at Short Season Batavia in the New York-Penn League.
It's possible Moran could be a member of the Marlins roster as early as 2014. If Moran can carry over his college production to the pro ranks, Miami would have a quality third baseman for the first time since the Fish gave away Miguel Cabrera in 2007 to the Detroit Tigers.
