Report: Marlins Park May Host Football Bowl Game
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The remnants of the Big East Conference, which is now called the American Athletic Conference, is considering putting together its own bowl game and one of the mentioned possible locations could spark quite a conversation in South Florida.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Marlins Park is a venue that may be explored to hold a bowl game for the AAC. Further, the Marlins told the Tampa Bay Times that the team "would be interested in hosting a bowl game and that the stadium can be configured for football."
The AAC, former Big East, has held bowl games in baseball stadiums in the past. The league has held bowl games at Yankee Stadium and at Tropicana Field in Tampa.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the AAC's commissioner, Mike Aresco, said a new bowl game is "doable" and that with ESPN's help that it's time his league "did something like that."
