Report: LeBron James Confirms He's Staying In Cleveland
Still celebrating winning its first professional sports championship in 52 years, the city of Cleveland got another huge win Wednesday.
Despite reports earlier this week saying that LeBron James would entertain the idea of leaving the Cavaliers this summer, he extinguished those hot rumors Wednesday as he told Cleveland.com that he'd be returning the team next season.
"I love it here. I love being here. I love my teammates," James told Cleveland.com, moments before he boarded a float at Quicken Loans Arena for the teams' championship parade through downtown Cleveland. "Obviously my agent will take care of all the logistical things but, I'm happy. I've got no plans to go nowhere at this point."
There you have it.
Just as fans in Miami and Los Angeles were dreaming about possibly hosting their own LeBron-led parades, the 2016 NBA Finals MVP told everyone that he's staying home.
Maybe "The King" has matured and knows that his brand and popularity will grow at exponential levels by staying put and becoming a permanent fixture in his native Ohio.
Or, maybe he realized that despite Miami's warm weather and lower taxes or Los Angeles' glitz and glamour – both city's franchises are pretty far away from winning an NBA title.
Or, maybe it was the parade talking. Studies show that is nearly impossible to be salty when being showered with confetti and sitting in the back of a convertible.
Either way, LeBron's life is pretty good right now – even by his own standards.
"This is the happiest time in my life right now," James said to Cleveland.com.
