Report: Jets Fire Tony Sparano
NEW YORK (CBSMiami) – For the second time in as many months, former Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano is once again looking for work after he was reportedly fired by the New York Jets Tuesday morning.
The report, from Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, isn't a surprise after quarterback Mark Sanchez regressed this season and the Jets offense was abysmal.
The Jets offense under Sparano ranked 28th in points and 30th in yards gained, according to profootball-reference.com. The Jets ranked 30th in passing, 29th in touchdown passes, and 28th in interceptions in 2012 under Sparano.
The former Dolphins coach's future in the NFL is unknown. He was picked up quickly by the Jets after the Dolphins fired him following a failed tenure in Miami.
But, between not developing Sanchez and never having a plan to deal with Tim Tebow, Sparano's star has fallen quickly in the NFL.
