Report: Hester Would Love To Play For Dolphins
DAVIE (CBSMiami) – Speedster Devin Hester made his name at the University of Miami before dominating the NFL as a kick return specialist. Now out of work, Hester said he'd love to join the Dolphins as a special teams specialist.
"I would love to play for the Dolphins," Hester said, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The only problem with Hester is he doesn't have a well-defined position outside of being a kick-returner. The Chicago Bears experimented with him at wide receiver, where he had 217 receptions for 2,807 yards and 14 touchdowns through his career.
Last year, he was strictly a kick/punt returner, but recently said he's still running the 40-yard dash at 4.38 seconds. So could Hester help the Dolphins out?
Last year, the Dolphins' return game was ranked 18th in kickoff returns and 19th in punt returns. In 2012, Hester ranked 10th in the NFL in kickoff returns and 22nd in punt returns, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Last year, Hester didn't have enough punt returns to qualify for NFL rankings, but scored one touchdown on a punt return.
What will ultimately determine Hester's future will be his asking price. If his price, at 31-years-old, is financially feasible for the Dolphins, he will likely draw some interest, but that's a big IF at this point.
