Report: Heat Draw The Line At Longoria Taunts
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – For years, basketball fans have been trying to find the perfect way to distract opponents. From screaming to jumping up and down to holding up oversized heads, fans have tried just about everything. But the Miami Heat is drawing the line with one fan made distraction.
Some fans at the AmericanAirlines Arena held up pictures of actress Eva Longoria during the opening moments of Game 2. The pictures were targeted at San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, Longoria's ex-wife.
Even though some fans were handing them out, CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald reported the Heat put a quick stop to the signs.
"Someone who paid to go attend the game [at AmericanAirlines Arena] brought them and were handing them out," team spokesman Tim Donovan told the Herald. "He asked members of the Xtreme Team to hand them out, which they did. Until we saw what was going on, then we stopped it. We said, 'No, we're not doing this.'"
It's not the first time Heat fans have held up someone trying to distract opponents. According to the Herald, in 2006, oversized David Hasselhoff heads were held up to taunt Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, who said in an interview he hummed some Hasselhoff songs when under pressure.
