Report: GoDaddy.com Hacked, Anonymous Claims Responsibility

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – GoDaddy.com became the latest website to possibly incur the wrath of the hacking group Anonymous Monday.

The website domain registrar and hosting company announced on Twitter Monday that it was having problems with the site.

"Status Alert: Hey, all. We're aware of the trouble people are having with our site. We're working on it," GoDaddy said on Twitter.

According to CBS News, GoDaddy email addresses went down as well and the company posted a message on its customer support line saying it was aware of the problem.

Shortly after the site went down, Twitter account that claim to be associated with Anonymous claimed responsibility for the hacker attack.

"Basically, every GoDaddy site on the planet just crashed," one tweet read. "By using/supporting Godaddy, you are supporting censorship of the Internet," another said.

GoDaddy has been protested already this year for its support of the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA. The House bill was tabled after a fierce backlash on the Internet including from sites like Wikipedia.
