Former Fla. GOP Chair Pleads Guilty
ORLANDO (CBSMiami) – It looks like if former Republican Party of Florida chairman Jim Greer had any dirty laundry to air out about the GOP in his trial for theft, fraud, and other charges will never see the light of day.
According to the News Service of Florida, Greer agreed to plead guilty to charges of theft and money laundering will be sentenced by the judge in the case on March 27.
The move came on the same day jury selection was supposed to begin for the trial. However, an hour after the scheduled start of court, neither Greer or prosecutors had made their appearance in court.
Greer was accused of funneling approximately $200,000 into a company he had formed with an assistant. Greer said party leaders were well aware of the side company and that his prosecution was political payback.
Greer had repeatedly threatened to air out secrets that he said could be damaging to the Florida GOP.
