Report: Fins Sign Defensive Lineman Marvin Austin

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins, like any NFL team, can always use help on the defensive line and added that help Tuesday when the team signed free agent defensive lineman Marvin Austin, according to CBSSports.com's Jason LaCanfora.

The former North Carolina Tar Heel was drafted in the second round by the New York Giants in 2011. He missed his rookie season after tearing his pectoral muscle in the preseason and he was cut prior to the 2013 season.

He played in eight games in two years with the Giants and had previously worked out for the Seattle Seahawks this month. He has a total of eight tackles during his NFL career.

Austin was once one of the top recruits in the country before going to North Carolina. He was building a career at UNC but it was derailed after he and others were suspended for receiving improper benefits.

The move is likely a sign that either Paul Soliai or Cameron Wake could be out for at least one or two games.
