Report: Fins Owner Forming Political Action Cmte.
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross made no secret after Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford killed the Sun Life Stadium renovation deal that he would become a player in Tallahassee politics.
That promise may be coming to fruition sooner, rather than later.
Politico reported Monday that Ross will form a Florida-based political action committee to support Governor Rick Scott's re-election effort and it's expected to impact other races as well. Weatherford, along with other legislators, have already cost Ross $10 million in the failed renovation deal.
According to Politico, Ross will call the PAC Florida Jobs First and that the PAC is expected to be a player in both party primaries and take on incumbents across the state.
Politico reported the new PAC being formed by Ross will be run by Mercury Public Affairs officials Kieran Mahoney and Florida resident Michael McKeon who are former advisers to New York Governor George Pataki.
