Report: Fins Cornerback Out After Hernia Surgery
DAVIE (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins were expecting cornerback Jamar Taylor to compete immediately for a spot in the starting rotation at cornerback. But that competition has been put on hold thanks to a recent surgery.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Taylor underwent a procedure to repair a hernia he recently suffered. The surgery will reportedly keep Taylor out of Miami's offseason team activities for the next three weeks.
The Sun-Sentinel reported that Taylor might be cleared to take part in the team's next minicamp which will be held on June 11-13.
Taylor was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft, but most scouts believed he is a better cornerback than Kyle Wilson who was also selected out of Boise State, but was taken in the first round by the New York Jets.
In Taylor's final season in Boise, he recorded 51 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 9 passes broken up and four interceptions. He also runs a 4.37 40-yard dash and has a 35 inch vertical jump.
Once Taylor is cleared to play, he could immediately move up the depth chart to the number three cornerback position behind starters Brent Grimes and Richard Marshall.
