Domestic Fight Ends In Stabbing Death
PLANTATION (CBSMiami) – A Plantation mother remains in jail on charges she allegedly fatally stabbed her husband after reading his text messages.
Tyra Holmes, 26, faced a bond court judge early Friday morning, but received no bond.
"It says you were upset he had text messages from what you assumed were other women," Broward County bond court Judge John "Jay" Hurley said reading from an arrest report. "He became angry and allegedly put his palm on your forehead. You went downstairs to get a kitchen knife. It says you raised your knife then blanked out."
Plantation Police said Tyra Holmes and her husband of two years, Michael Holmes, 35, had argued late Wednesday night at their Solero Apartment located at 203 NW 135 Avenue.
When police arrived they found Holmes had been stabbed in the chest. Holmes was trauma alerted to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died.
"She killed my brother, she took my best friend from me," wailed Tiffany Bryant outside a Broward Judge's chamber on Friday afternoon.
Bryant, her sisters and their mother, all attended a shelter hearing for the children of Tyra and Michael Holmes. The couple has one-year-old twins, according to the family.
The Department of Children and Families will determine where the children will be placed because their mother is in jail.
The parents of Tyra Holmes also attended the shelter hearing.
"She's a good mother. The truth will come out," said Andrea Wallace refusing to elaborate on the relationship between her daughter and the man she's accused of killing.
But the family of Michael Holmes says the couple had a contentious relationship and that 'he' was planning to leave her.
"My brother was too good for this. Everything he did, he did for his family," said Alexis Jewell.
"We never thought it would come to this. That he would take him from us," cried Tiffany Bryant.
