Dolphins Sign QB Matt Moore

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Denver Broncos appear to have overplayed their hand with the Miami Dolphins on Kyle Orton. The Miami Dolphins have agreed to a two-year contract with quarterback Matt Moore, according to ESPN's John Clayton.

According to the Oregonian, Moore will arrive in Miami Friday to sign a contract worth $5 million with incentives that could push the value as high as $7.5 million.

Moore would not be guaranteed a starting job, but the Fins would have him compete with incumbent Chad Henne to be the starting quarterback. The Fins hope that would inspire Henne to up his game and take control of the job.

Moore's numbers are not much better than Henne's and when he was handed the starting job with the Panthers in 2010, he struggled on a very, very bad team.

Miami would hope to get the Matt Moore of 2009 who completed 62 percent of his passes for 1,053 yards with 8 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. Moore had a passer rating of 98.5 in 2009, but his career passer rating is just 73.9.

The Dolphins quarterback depth chart as the preseason gets rolling is: Chad Henne, Matt Moore, and Pat Devlin/Tom Brandstater
