Report: Cristobal Not Going To Rutgers
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It appeared for much of the day that Florida International University head football coach Mario Cristobal was headed to Rutgers University to take over that program.
Apparently, the reports of Cristobal taking the job were just a bit premature.
According to Pete Thamel of the New York Times, Coach Cristobal has decided to stay at FIU and not become the head coach at Rutgers.
CBSSports' Brett McMurphy and Bruce Feldman have confirmed the Times report.
McMurphy reported on Twitter that Rutgers and Cristobal couldn't agree on contract length or money.
Rutgers University lost their former head coach, Greg Schiano, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Thursday.
Rutgers was interested in Cristobal because he was the tight ends and offensive line coach under Schiano. Still, Cristobal was also rumored to be the top choice at Pitt, but chose to stick with FIU.
