Report: Bush & Fins Talking Deal
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Miami Dolphins have widely been expected to let running back Reggie Bush leave the team in free agency, but Bush may not be headed out of town just yet.
According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, the Dolphins and Bush's agent have discussed a possible deal for Bush in the last week.
However, the Dolphins will not overpay for Bush, which means he'd likely have to take a pay cut from the $5 million salary he received last year.
The Dolphins are using similar plans with left tackle Jake Long and cornerback Sean Smith. The Dolphins would welcome both back to the team, but they want them to return at a price favorable to the Dolphins and the team's salary cap.
According to the Herald, Bush would possibly be used as a third-down back or possibly as a slot receiver as well.
The problem for Bush is the Fins have the next running back on the roster, Lamar Miller, who showed flashes last season of game-breaking ability.
Plus, running backs have been heavily devalued in the current NFL, meaning the older the backs get, the less likely they are to hit a big pay day.
