Report: Bondi Gets Execution Date Changed To Attend Fundraiser
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) - How much power does money have over political offices? Florida has delayed the execution of a former escort service owner due to a campaign fundraiser.
Governor Rick Scott delayed the execution of Marshall Lee Gore from September 10 until October 1 at the request of Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Governor Scott said he didn't know why the request was made but that it was routine to accommodate requests from other officials.
The News Service of Florida got to the bottom of the request and found that the date of execution conflicted with the date of a fundraiser for Bondi.
Gore was convicted in the 1988 slaying of Robyn Novick, a 30-year-old exotic dancer. In addition to Novick, Gore also was sentenced to death for the 1988 slaying of Susan Roark.
