Reggie Bush Returns Heisman
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – More than two years after the University of Southern California was hit with major sanctions due to improper actions with running back Reggie Bush, the Miami Dolphins back has returned his 2005 Heisman Trophy.
Bush told "The Dan Patrick Show" on Wednesday that he personally sent the trophy to the Heisman Memorial Trust which gives the trophy out each season. USC had sent their version of the trophy back in August 2010.
Bush initially said he'd decided to "forfeit" his title of Heisman winner and would return the trophy, but kept it until this year, according to ESPN.com.
Bush won the trophy thanks to some incredible on-field performances in 2005. That year, Bush rushed for 1,658 yards and 15 touchdowns while catching 31 passes for 383 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 8.9 yards per carry in 2005.
His most notable performance that year came against Fresno State when he ran the ball 23 times for 294 yards, caught 3 passes for 68 yards, and had 513 all-purpose yards in the game.
