Reality Star's Son Expected To Be Arrested Over Homeless Beating
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4)- CBS4 News has learned Miami Beach Police plan to arrest the son of a reality TV star for the beating of a homeless man that was captured on videotape.
Police spokesman Sgt. Bobby Hernandez told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that Peter Rosello, who is the son of Alex Echeverria of the "Real Housewives of Miami" show, will be charged with battery on a homeless person, a 3rd degree felony that could mean up to five years in prison if convicted.
"He will have until the close of business tomorrow (Wednesday) to turn himself in as we expect with his attorney," said Hernandez. "If he does not do that, our detectives will go out to where he lives and arrest him."
Police believe Rosello was seen in a 36-second clip that was posted on the Internet that shows him punching a homeless man who was lying on the sidewalk in the groin and then running off. Detectives said the video was posted to Rosello's personal Facebook page before it was removed last week.
CBS4 caught up with Brown near the site of the attack on Lincoln Road.
Brown said, "Something's going to happen to him, I know."
Brown was asked about a possible arrest.
"Are you ok with an arrest?" he was asked.
"Yep," he answered.
"It's what you wanted?" he was asked.
"Yep," he responded.
CBS4's Maggie Newland spoke with Rosello's mother, Alexia who told her, "I'm sorry at this time I can't say anything. I'm very saddened by the whole situation."
CBS4 reached out to Rosello's attorney, Richard Sharpstein, but he declined to comment.
Hernandez had said it appeared that Rosello was battered for no reason. It's not known what prompted this attack.
Hernandez said police have spoken to the man who was behind the camera in this incident. It's not known if he will be in any trouble. That is part of the investigation.
