Ravens Star Ray Lewis Out For Season
BALTIMORE, Md. (CBSMiami) – The Baltimore Ravens confirmed Monday that future Hall of Fame middle linebacker Ray Lewis is out for the remainder of the season as a result of an arm injury he suffered Sunday.
The Ravens said an MRI showed Lewis completely tore his triceps, which will put him on the shelf for the rest of the season. It was the second major blow for the Ravens, who also lost cornerback Ladarius Webb for the rest of the season after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The bigger question that Lewis has to answer is how much longer he plans to play in the NFL. He's 37-years-old and has repeatedly talked about life after football. He was drafted by the Ravens out of the University of Miami 17 years ago.
Lewis is already a likely first-ballot Hall of Famer without playing another down. His competitive fire has led the Ravens to unparalleled success, especially on the defensive side of the football.
Before Lewis tore his triceps against Dallas, he had recorded 14 total tackles against the Cowboys on Sunday. For his career, Lewis has 2050 tackles, 41.5 sacks, 19 forced fumbles, 19 fumble recoveries, and 31 interceptions.
