Rangers Search For Missing Man In Everglades Park
MIAMI (CBS4) – The search continues in Everglades National Park for a man who has not been seen in about a week.
On Tuesday, park rangers assisted by a Miami-Dade police helicopter searched for 23-year-old Jacob Micheal Olivier. Though Olivier has not been officially listed as missing, park officials said his vehicle has been parked at Pine Glades Lake since August 24th and has not moved.
Park rangers contacted Olivier's family in Texas who said he didn't know anyone in South Florida. Since they couldn't provide any information on how long Olivier planned to stay in the park, the rangers launched the search as a precaution.
On Wednesday rangers, assisted by police, are conducting a more intensive search with K-9s, trackers and police helicopters scouring the area around were Olivier's car has been parked.
Anyone who may have seen Olivier while visiting the park in the past week or have other information to his whereabouts is asked to contact park officials at (305) 242-7740.
