ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) — Over two years have passed since a gunman opened fire inside a popular gay nightclub in Florida.
The foundation that's building a memorial at the site of the Pulse shooting in Orlando has issued a request for design ideas to help honor the 49 patrons who were killed at the gay nightclub.
The onePulse Foundation on Tuesday put out the request for ideas on how best to remember the slain victims and educate visitors about tolerance. Organizers say the ideas should touch on architecture and landscape.
Submissions will be accepted through the end of August.
Gunman Omar Mateen opened fired in 2016 at the gay nightclub, killing 49 people. At the time, it was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. However, last year's mass shooting along the Las Vegas Strip became the deadliest when 58 people were killed.
