Psychiatric Hospital Employee Arrested, Charged With Sexual Battery Of Female Patient
HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – A South Florida hospital worker is behind bars accused of sexually battering a patient at a psychiatric hospital.
Hialeah Police arrested 34-year-old Yadiel Perez-Delgado on Monday.
Investigators say he entered a female patient's room at Southern Winds Hospital located at 4225 West 20th Avenue and held the woman against her will as he raped her.
Police say the victim's roommate entered the room and stopped him.
Perez-Delgado is in jail facing several charges including sexual battery and false imprisonment.
In a statement released Tuesday morning, Southern Winds Hospital CEO Ana Bovo said Perez-Delgado is also under investigation for a second incident.
"During the interview with the victimized patient, the detective was advised of a separate incident involving inappropriate touching of a different female patient by the same mental health tech. This matter is now under investigation by Hialeah PD, as well.
Southern Winds Hospital is fully cooperating with both investigations and has terminated the alleged perpetrator." She added, "We take pride in delivering high quality psychiatric care to our patients and are devastated by these reports and are focused on ensuring that these two victims receive the appropriate care and counseling."
