The famed Bowl Championship Series ends its run with the biggest game of the series – the Discover BCS National Championship Game. It's considered by many as the "Super Bowl" of college football. For the second time ever, South Florida has been chosen to host both the BCS National Championship game and another highly popular bowl game, the Orange Bowl. Sun Life stadium will serve as center stage for the game as two teams battle it out to win the crown as the NCAA's best team. Whether one chooses to watch it on TV while hosting a game-day party or makes plans to tailgate under cloudless South Florida skies, locals have the treat of enjoying the biggest college football game of the year right here at home.
Getting there
If you're driving to the game, there are several options to get there from different parts of South Florida. The Florida Turnpike is the most popular option (specifically because there's a toll plaza exit right next to the stadium). Those living farther to the east can get to the stadium via I-95 and Ives Dairy Road. State Road 826 (Palmetto Expressway) serves well for those traveling eastbound or westbound to get to the stadium. If you prefer to take surface streets, you can access 27th Avenue northbound in Miami-Dade County or University Drive in Broward County (which converts to NW 27th Avenue once you pass County Line Road.)
Public transportation is another viable option if you want to avoid the drive or parking fees. Fans can get to and from the stadium with either Miami-Dade County Transit or Broward County Transit. Experiencing the game at the stadium
Enjoying game day doesn't have to be limited to just the game itself. The BCS Game Day Fan Zone is an all-day event that gets the celebration started before kickoff. Tickets are required for admission, but the event's activities to engage in sets it apart from the game as a stand-alone event. What's included at the event is a live music performance by the event's headlining talent and performances by the cheerleaders and marching bands of both competing schools. Patrons can also get a hold of sports memorabilia and get into exciting interactive games and contests. Foods and drinks will be on hand as well.
