"Power Plate" Workout Spices Up Love Life

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - You'd never know it by looking at it, but the couples at Gold's Gym on South Beach are actually working out in the name of love. It's a program called "more love less handles."   Customized exercises designed to help lovers trim down while strengthening their relationship.

"It's the workout that builds trust, intimacy, and communication between couples in a group atmosphere" says David Gandell, General Manager of Gold's Gym South Beach.

At Biotonic Vibe Studio inside Gold's Gym South Beach, trainers use the newest in vibration technology. They have couples stand on "The Power Plate". The plate transmits waves of energy throughout the body causing muscles to contract between 20 and 50 times per second.

"With the vibrations suddenly it's contracting your muscles and then relaxing them and contracting and relaxing," says trainer Sylvie Patrick.  "It's adding an intensity to the workout."

The "more love less handles" 30 minute workout also strengthens four key pillars of a relationship--trust, intensity communication and intimacy.

Lindsay and Marc, who have been working out on the power plate together for 3 years, are all about trust and communication.

"It's a great deal of communication between Marc and myself when we workout. Spending time together," says Lindsay Smith.

Married couple Megan and Brian May work on their whole bodies, and their intensity for each other.

Another couple, Nivaldo and Melissa are dating and dealing with arms and intimacy

"We have a lot of fun while we are exercising. We make fun of each other. He's always checking me out," laughs Melissa Rodriguez

"It gives me the opportunity to spend time with her and it does create relationship time," says Brian May about his wife Megan May.

"It's trust and communication, especially when they're spotting you," says Megan May.
