Power, Airports Affected By Hurricane Sandy
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – South Florida may have been spared a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy, but that doesn't mean we aren't feeling its affects with power outages, flooding and flight delays and cancelations.
As of 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Florida Power and Light is working on repairing 3,740 power outages in Miami-Dade and 3,550 outages in Broward.
The bright outlook here is that as more and more power is restored, the weather will also continue to improve as rain chances drop off by Saturday, when winds change direction and pulls in cooler, drier air from the north.
But before that happens, Hurricane Sandy continues to impact flights at South Florida airports.
Miami International Airport is reporting 12 canceled arrivals and 15 canceled departures due to the storm.

As of 3 p.m., Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport is reporting 21 canceled arrivals and 18 canceled departures for a total of 39 affected flights.

MIA and FLL remain fully operational with all normal services. Travelers are encouraged to arrive early for their flights.
