MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Drivers on the Palmetto Expressway have yet another change coming this weekend to 826 as a popular ramp closes for three months.
Starting Friday night, the southbound 826 exit ramp to West Flagler Street will be closed for roughly three months.
The three month closure will take place in order to even out the ground for a new ramp to Flagler Street.
Now if you to get to West Flagler, you'll have to drive south on the Palmetto and exit at the Dolphin Expressway east ramp and then follow the signs.
"They'll come around and follow the signs, to West Flagler Street, go underneath the turn around, underneath 836, and then they can take the eastbound exit to West Flagler Street," explained Oscar Gonzalez, the 836-826 Project Representative.
But before that closure, crews will shut down other portions of the roadway to prepare for the shift.
The eastbound 836 ramp to West Flagler Street/Southbound 826 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday.
The West Flagler Street ramp to Southbound 826 will be closed on Saturday between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
South Florida commuters have endured construction on the Palmetto for a very long time but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
"We are entering the final stages and we expect to be substantially complete with the project by the end of this year with the whole project being completed early next year," said Gonzalez.
