Poppinga: 'The Market Calls For' Contracts Like Cam Newton's
With Cam Newton receiving a monster nine-digit extension from the Carolina Panthers, former NFL linebacker Brady Poppinga thinks teams have no choice but to give their quality quarterbacks big money.
"Whether you agree with that fact that this guy (Cam Newton) should be with the Aaron Rodgers of the world or not, the market calls for it because there's just not another alternative," Poppinga said on the Big O Show.
"If you're going to talk about who's going to get the most money, than it has to be Andrew Luck. In my opinion, it just wouldn't seem right, it wouldn't be just if Andrew Luck got a deal that was less than a Russell Wilson deal."
Luck and Wilson, both in the same draft class as Ryan Tannehill, have yet to receive extensions on their rookie deals.
