Pompano Beach Teen Accidentally Shoots 10-Year-Old Sister

POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) -Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to figure out how a gun got into the hands of a teenage boy, resulting in the shooting of his little sister.

The shooting happened Wednesday night on the 400 block of N.W 7th Terrace in Pompano Beach.

BSO Spokesperson Dani Moschella says a 14-year-old boy in the home used the gun to accidentally shoot his 10-year-old sister. The bullet reportedly pierced her in the leg.

The girl was taken by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue to Broward General Medical Center. Authorities say her injuries to not appear to be life-threatening.

Neighbors told CBS4 News that several children were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

The victim's aunt rushed to the scene after being notified of the shooting. She said she has no idea where the gun came from or who it belongs to.

The teenage boy was seen being placed into the back of a patrol car, but it is unclear if he will face any charges.
