Poll: Romney Cruising To Victory
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Mitt Romney came into Florida needing a big rebound in the Sunshine State after getting drubbed in South Carolina; and based on the latest Quinnipiac University poll, he's poised to win Florida easily.
According to the poll, Romney has a 43-29 percent lead over Newt Gingrich among likely Florida Republican voters.
The poll found seven percent were undecided, but 24 percent could still change their mind by Tuesday's election.
Romney is even pulling away from groups that many have long thought Gingrich would easily win.
The poll found Romney leading among self-described conservatives, white evangelical voters, and self-described tea party members.
"Gov. Mitt Romney is headed towards a double-digit victory that touches all the GOP bases," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "If this margin holds up tomorrow, it's hard to see where Gingrich goes from here."
Romney has higher favorability ratings (64-25) compared to Newt Gingrich (51-42). Rick Santorum and Ron Paul both polled at 11 percent in the Quinnipiac Poll.
The poll had a margin of error of +/- 4.2 points.
