Poll: Medical Marijuana Favored By Floridians
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – If the Florida voters are allowed to decide the issue of medical marijuana; it's likely to pass by a very wide margin, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.
According to the poll, Florida voters support the use of marijuana for medical use by an 82-16 percent margin. Support for medical marijuana was overwhelming across every group surveyed by Quinnipiac.
Republicans supported the use of marijuana in medical cases 70-26 percent while voters under 30 approved of the measure by a margin of 90 percent to 10 percent.
But, when it comes to recreational use of marijuana, the voters are more evenly divided. By a margin of 48-46 percent, voters approve of adults possessing small amounts of marijuana for recreational use.
Men support the recreational use of marijuana of 52-44 percent, while women are opposed by a 49-44 percent margin.
"If the folks who want to legalize medical marijuana in Florida can get their proposal on the ballot, they are overwhelmingly favored to prevail next November," Brown said.
