Poll Gives Clinton Slight Edge Over Trump In Florida

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - Democrat Hillary Clinton holds a slight lead over Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup in Florida, but voters remain deeply divided along lines of gender, race and ethnicity.
That's according to a poll released Friday by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.
Clinton leads Trump by a margin of 45 percent to 42 percent, which is within the poll's 4 percentage-point margin of error. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received 6 percent, while 7 percent of voters were undecided.
A matchup between Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders showed them deadlocked at 42 percent in Florida.
Like other surveys, the Mason-Dixon poll showed deep divides in Florida about the presidential race. For example, women voters support Clinton by a margin of 55 percent to 33 percent over Trump, while men support Trump by a margin of 52 percent to 34 percent.
Similarly, white voters support Trump by a margin of 55 percent to 31 percent. But black voters support Clinton by a margin of 90 percent to 4 percent, and Hispanic voters support Clinton by a margin of 68 percent to 20 percent.
The telephone poll of 625 registered Florida voters was conducted from Tuesday to Thursday. The poll said all 625 indicated they are likely to vote in the November election.
