Poll: Florida Has Favorable View Of Senators
MIAMI (CBS4) - A plurality of Floridians gives both U.S. Senators from the Sunshine State positive job approval numbers in a new poll from Quinnipiac University.
Florida Democratic Senator Bill Nelson has a 45-21 percent job approval rating while newly elected Senator Marco Rubio has a 42-20 percent approval rating in the new poll.
In addition, 43 percent of Floridians said Bill Nelson deserves to be re-elected compared to 33 percent who said he doesn't deserve another term.
The news isn't as good for President Barack Obama. By a slim margin, 49-47, Floridians disapprove of his handling of his job. In addition, by a 48-45 percent margin, Floridians said the president does not deserve a second term.
Forty-four percent of Floridians said President Obama is too liberal, while 4 percent say he is too conservative and 43 percent said the president's views are about right.
Obama's job approval ratings in Florida are statistically unchanged from the last Quinnipiac survey in August 2010.
Quinnipiac's Poll released Thursday follows Wednesday's poll that found that Floridians want to give newly-elected Florida Governor Rick Scott a chance to implement his policies before giving him a thumbs up or down.
