Poll: Florida A Statistical Tie Between Romney & Obama
DORAL (CBSMiami) – With just hours to go until the campaigning for the 2012 election officially comes to an end, the latest Public Policy Polling poll of Florida gives President Barack Obama a razor thin one point lead over Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
PPP polls have historically leaned slightly towards Democrats, but over the last four polls have found a one-point race in Florida each time, with President Obama leading in two of the polls and Romney leading in two of the polls.
The raw numbers in the poll showed just how close the race is. According to PPP, 473 respondents chose Obama and 472 picked Romney.
Based on the latest PPP Florida poll, the race is a statistical tie. The poll had a margin of error of +/- 3.2 percent.
PPP also polled the state on the Senate race between Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson and Republican challenger Connie Mack IV. The poll found Nelson leading Mack by a 51-46 margin and PPP said that's in line with a 4-7 point range lead for Nelson over the last several weeks.
No major public poll has given Mack a lead over Nelson heading into Election Day.
Given the chaos that ensued in Miami-Dade County over the weekend, and remembering what happened in 2000; the election in Florida could be a very long day and night.
