Poll: Clinton Has Dbl-Digit Lead Over Bush & Rubio
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would crush either former Florida Governor Jeb Bush or Senator Marco Rubio in a head-to-head presidential race, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll.
Clinton would defeat Bush by a 51-40 percent margin and beat Senator Rubio by a 52-41 in the poll of registered voters in the Sunshine State. The Q-poll found Clinton is viewed favorably by a 62-33 percent margin compared to 50-35 for Bush and 41-34 for Rubio.
"We probably won't know for some time whether former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton runs for president in 2016, but if she decides to make the race, she begins with a sizable lead in a state that Republicans cannot win the White House without," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Twenty-six percent of Republicans view Clinton favorably and by a 57-35 percent margin has a favorable view from independents. Overall, 66 percent of women and 56 percent of men view the former First Lady and Secretary of State favorably.
The Q-poll found that Clinton would take 10 percent of the Republican vote, while Bush would get only 4 percent of Democrats. Independent voters split 42 percent for Clinton and 41 percent for Bush.
President Barack Obama has a 50-45 percent job approval rating in Florida among registered voters.
